About Us
Avighna Abhyasa Institute of Fine Arts (AAIFA) was founded by Guru Smt. Haripriya Pettem, a passionate artist and educator devoted to the Indian classical arts. What began as a heartfelt effort to teach and preserve traditional art forms has now evolved into a respected institution with over 150 students across India and abroad.
Established in 2021 and affiliated with Bir Tikendrajit University, Manipur, the institute provides professional training in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Music, Mridangam, and Drawing & Painting.
At Avighna Abhyasa, learning is not merely about perfecting technique — it is about discipline, devotion, cultural understanding, and artistic integrity. Each class is designed to bring out the individuality of the learner while staying rooted in tradition and classical precision.
Since its inception in 2021, Avighna Abhyasa Institute of Fine Arts has been committed to preserving and promoting the timeless beauty of Indian classical arts.
Guru Smt. Haripriya Pettem, who has trained in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music for over 16 years, envisioned creating a space where students could explore, learn, and express themselves through art.
From a handful of students during the early pandemic years to a thriving global community of learners today, Avighna Abhyasa continues to uphold the values of discipline, cultural pride, and artistic excellence.
Born on 2nd August 1984, Guru Haripriya Pettem’s journey into the world of fine arts began with an innate passion for dance and music. She trained under accomplished teachers — Shri Suresh (Folk Dance), Smt. Dwaram Lakshmi (Carnatic Music), and Smt. Sujatha Ravi Subramanyam (Bharatanatyam) — and performed at esteemed platforms such as Nadaneerajanam 2009, Tirumala, and national cultural festivals.
Holding a Master’s in Fine Arts along with postgraduate degrees in Computer Applications and Technology, she served as an Assistant Professor at J.B. College, Tirupati for six years before dedicating her life fully to the fine arts.
With over 16 years of learning and 9 years of teaching experience, Guru Haripriya continues to mentor students with the philosophy that art is both a discipline and a divine pursuit.
Our Process
Students begin by learning the fundamentals of classical dance — including posture, footwork, expressions, and mudras. Classes emphasize discipline and dedication, creating a strong base for future progress.
As students grow in confidence and control, they are guided deeper into choreography, rhythm, and storytelling. Emotional expression becomes a key focus, aligning the dancer with the soul of the art form.
Advanced learners participate in stage performances, cultural festivals, and certification exams. Feedback, mentoring, and continued refinement ensure lifelong learning and artistic evolution.

Established Avighna Abhyasa Institute of Fine Arts in Bengaluru with a mission to make classical training accessible to all ages.
Students from across India joined both online and offline programs, marking the start of global outreach.
The institute reached over 150 students, with active participation in national festivals and temple performances across Tirumala, Kanchi, Kolhapur, Shiridi, and Kashi.
At Avighna Abhyasa, learning is guided by the belief that art refines character, builds discipline, and awakens spirituality.
The training combines practical sessions, theoretical understanding, abhinaya (expression), and taalam (rhythm), following a systematic syllabus approved by Bir Tikendrajit University.
Students are encouraged to appear for certified examinations and participate in cultural festivals, arangetrams, and recitals, building both confidence and stage presence.
The goal is not only to create skilled performers but to nurture individuals who live art — with devotion, grace, and purpose.
